New Buckeyes QB Tavien St. Clair Joins Jeremiah Smith in Bold Michigan Vow
A Rivalry Defined by Recent Heartbreak
The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost four straight games to the Michigan Wolverines, including last season’s shocking 13-10 home loss. That pivotal game included a flag planting in the middle of the field at Ohio Stadium, a brawl, and even pepper spray used against players.
The shocking scene included imagery that Buckeyes and Wolverines fans will never forget, such as Ohio State program legend Jack Sawyer becoming demonstrably upset at the Wolverines and head coach Ryan Day watching on in silence.
The Buckeyes have a chance to stem the tide this November in Ann Arbor with a new quarterback behind center for new offensive coordinator Brian Hartline’s team.
Freshman Duo Declares War on Michigan Streak
On Tuesday, 5-star prospect and new Ohio State Buckeyes freshman QB Tavien St. Clair sent a message to his fans, appearing to second the words of superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who recently said he would not lose to the Michigan Wolverines over the next two years.
“NEW: Jeremiah Smith Promises to Never Lose to Michigan Again at Ohio State: ‘I just hate them. Just something about them. For the next two years, I promise you, I will not lose to them. I can’t lose to them in the next two years,’” Smith said in a message that St. Clair retweeted.
St. Clair battled Michigan freshman and former five-star recruit Bryce Underwood for the number one spot among incoming QB recruits during his high school season last year.
The Ohio native ended up ranked behind Underwood by most scouting services but remains a threat to win the Buckeyes starting job ahead of Alabama transfer Julian Sayin this year.
