Topeka Cello Collective Teams Up with National Guard Army Band

In collaboration with the National Guard Army Band, the Topeka Cello Collective hosted its second annual Sounds of Liberty Concert. The concert included a wide range of patriotic music spanning from songs of Americana, Black spirituals, and patriotic tunes. It also featured a bluegrass band to kick off the show.

“What excites me is to get the kids excited about sharing their music, and engaging with the public, and showing that just because you play a classical instrument, that it can be cool too,” said Erinn Renyer, Artistic Director of Topeka Cello Collective. “And you get to play for the community, and get to play all different types of music, it’s super fun.”

Rachel Anderson, National Guard Chief Warrant Officer Two

“It’s pretty common for us to partner with community bands; that’s our job,” explained Rachel Anderson, National Guard Chief Warrant Officer Two. “We tour our two weeks to different areas of Kansas and partner with different community bands. This is the first time that we’re partnering with cello, so this is something that’s exciting and new for us.”
