Sir David Beckham appeared to extend an olive branch to his son Brooklyn on Thursday, as he posted a heartfelt birthday tribute to his mother, Sandra, amid ongoing reports of a family rift.
The former footballer, now 50, shared a carousel of nostalgic and recent photos on Instagram, celebrating his mother’s 76th birthday. The images featured moments from his childhood through to present day.
“Happy birthday mum, we love you so much. I hope u have the best day. Thank you for always being there for us all. Love you,” he wrote in the caption.
The tribute included tags for several family members, including his sister Joanne and sons Romeo and Cruz. Notably, Brooklyn was also tagged in the post—despite ongoing speculation that their relationship has become strained.
His youngest daughter Harper, 13, was included via hashtag, as she does not have social media accounts.
Subtle Gesture Amid Family Tensions

David’s birthday tribute comes as reports of a family rift continue to swirl—specifically between David and Brooklyn, who now resides in the United States with his wife, actress and heiress Nicola Peltz.
Earlier this week, Brooklyn raised eyebrows by publicly wishing his billionaire father-in-law, Nelson Peltz, a happy birthday—while continuing to remain silent on his own parents’ recent celebrations.
“Happy birthday Nelson x We love you,” Brooklyn wrote, alongside a photo of himself with Nicola and Nelson.
This gesture stood in sharp contrast to his apparent absence from David Beckham’s star-studded 50th birthday celebration at Core, Notting Hill, back in May—despite reportedly being in London at the time.
Missed Moments and Milestones
Brooklyn has also reportedly skipped other key family occasions, including:
A Beckham family gathering in the Cotswolds
A getaway to France
A boys-only fishing trip to Scotland
In addition, neither Brooklyn nor Nicola publicly acknowledged either of his parents’ birthdays on social media this year—something once seen as a tradition in the otherwise close-knit Beckham family.
David’s Father’s Day Olive Branch
Despite these absences, David Beckham appeared to reach out again just weeks earlier. On Father’s Day, he posted a series of family photos along with a touching message:
“I will always be here for you no matter what.”
However, Brooklyn did not publicly respond to the post.
Reported Estrangement and New Roots in the U.S.
While the Beckhams have not publicly commented on the status of their relationship with Brooklyn, insiders suggest the family has “privately accepted” the estrangement.
Brooklyn and Nicola were married in Palm Beach, Florida in 2022 and have continued to build their life in the U.S. Most recently, it was reported that the couple purchased a £10.5 million mansion in Los Angeles.
According to The Sun, the pair had been renting in the area before deciding to buy—an apparent sign of their long-term commitment to staying in the U.S., where Nicola’s family is based.
