Could a Fifth Walt Disney World Park Be Coming to Orlando?
- No official confirmation from Disney about building a fifth theme park.
Disney has not publicly discussed plans for a new park.
However, a new comprehensive development plan from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District outlines potential space and zoning that could allow for it.
📄 What’s in the Plan?
The 600+ page agenda outlines development potential over the next 20 years.
It includes zoning allowances for:
1 major theme park
2 minor parks (e.g., water parks or smaller entertainment zones)
Hotels
Shopping & dining areas
Golf courses
Office and event spaces
🔹 Development space available:
2,600+ acres total
850 acres zoned specifically for theme parks
🗺️ Where Could It Go?
While the existing parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom) and attractions like Typhoon Lagoon and ESPN Wide World of Sports already take up much of the designated “entertainment” land:
There is still room for expansion through:
Reconfiguring parking lots
Infill development
Structured parking to free up surface areas
🏗️ What Disney Is Working On:
Though a 5th park is not confirmed, these major expansions and reimaginings are underway:
Magic Kingdom:
New lands in planning, including:
A “Cars” themed area
A Disney Villains land
Animal Kingdom:
Creation of Tropical Americas land:
Inspired by “Encanto”
And “Indiana Jones”
Hollywood Studios:
A planned “Monsters, Inc.” land
Featuring a vertical lift coaster
EPCOT:
The Test Track ride is reopening with a new design on July 22
🗺️ Global Expansion:
In May 2024, Disney also announced a new theme park in Abu Dhabi, showing the company’s continued interest in growing its footprint internationally.
🚨 Bottom Line:
While no fifth park is confirmed, the zoning is now in place and space exists for Disney to build one in the future. Given the scale of current projects and the long-term development window, it’s not off the table—but don’t expect an announcement anytime soon.
